About Me

Hi, I'm Jessica, and I want to be your family's photographer!

Photography has always been a passion of mine. Growing up, my friends could always count on me to be the one who always had her camera. That transitioned into working on the high school yearbook staff, and now to capturing and preserving your family's memories.

In addition to photography, I enjoy video games, traveling, and FOOD. Cake is my favorite food (perhaps this is one reason I love weddings so much), but don't feed me lettuce; I can't stand it! I used to be an avid cosplayer (that means I handmade costumes of my favorite video game/anime/movie characters and wore them to conventions), but now I mostly just enjoy looking at other people's handiwork.

I also adore blogging, so be sure to subscribe to keep up with my ramblings and current photos. And, if I look familiar, it's because I was (am) Ms. Fondue over at Weddingbee.

I'm based in Nashville, Tennessee, but I do love to travel, so don't hesitate to contact me if you live elsewhere. You can find me on Twitter and Facebook, or just email me!

Gatlinburg

Don’t forget: You can still enter to win free wedding photography! All entries are due September 1!

So you all may have been wondering what I’ve been up to lately! August was a busy month for me, personally, so I look forward to sharing some photos from the past few weeks. Last weekend, my friend Laura and I drove out to Gatlinburg to relax and destress. :)

Smoky Mountains

I’m always enthralled watching taffy being made.

While we were there, we drove out to Cade’s Cove. It was so pretty! Click this panorama to see a larger version.

I captured this one using the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone.

It was neat seeing the old buildings and churches.

We also hiked the 2.5 miles down to Abrams Falls.

All in all, it was a very relaxing trip! My next getaway is to New York City in December; I’m super excited about that!

We will miss you, Cara.

My 18-year-old cousin Cara passed away this morning. She battled with leukemia for most of her teenage years and was one of the strongest people I know. She will be very missed. Please keep her family in your thoughts.

Happy Independence Day!

Hope everyone has a great and happy fourth!

iPhone 4!

I arrived home last Wednesday to a package from AT&T. Yes, it was the new iPhone 4! I never bought the 3GS, so going from 3G to 4 was quite the upgrade. After staring at the pretty (extremely clear) new screen for about an hour, I decided to play with the camera using my (somewhat) willing models: my cats!

Vera, my orange tabby

Then I realized that really only I like to look at millions of photos of my cats. So the next day, Jonathan and I tested it out at the Adventure Science Center’s Way Late Play Date. It seemed to me that it performed better in low light conditions than the 3G’s camera did with normal light.

And…video!

I think I’m in love. Did anyone else get the new iPhone?

Behind the Scenes!

I think it’s so funny to see photos of myself taking photos.

Holly posted one a few days ago that her sister Shannon took during our newborn session last weekend.

Oddly, I’m wearing a dress. Which isn’t strange on a normal day, since I wear dresses probably 80% of the time, but I usually wear jeans on shoots (or black pants, in the case of weddings) because I tend to end up rolling around in mud.

And here’s another reason. How embarrassing is this? Normally I would just sit on the ground to get a shot like this, but despite being in Vegas, I wanted to stay modest. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I weren’t wearing tights and, so fearing I would rip them if I got on my knees like I would normally do, decided to do some awkward squat thing. Notice how Eileen is cackling at me. Megan took this one during one of the Weddingbee trash the dress shoots.

This was kind of an impromptu shoot, so I had already picked out my outfit for the day. You’d think I would have changed shoes, though. I’m not really sure what possessed me to go on a shoot wearing HEELS. We’ll just say I was trying to challenge myself. :) But here’s one of the resulting shots!

Whenever I second shoot, I try to take at least one photo of the primary photographer in action, just in case they find it as amusing as I do.
